Maintenance of granted patents

Our in-house records department will provide reminders relating to the deadlines for annuity payments and can make payments of the fees on receipt of your instructions.

Granted patents must be maintained by the payment of annual renewal fees.

The life of a patent, for which all of the annuity fees are paid, is typically 20 years from the date of filing the formal patent application. However, in certain cases, the term of the patent can exceptionally be extended up for a further 5 years for patenting products which are the subject of extensive clinical or agricultural trials.
