Maintenance of Granted Patents
Granted Patents must be maintained by the payment of annual renewal fees. The life of a Patent for which all of the annuity fees are paid is typically 20 years from the date of filing the formal Patent Application. However, in certain cases, the term of the Patent can exceptionally be extended up to a maximum of a further 5 years for patenting products which are the subject of extensive clinical or agricultural trials.
